E&C Medical Intelligence, Inc., Announces New Name: PeriGen Inc.
Apr 29, 2009
Princeton, NJ (April 29, 2009) – E&C Medical Intelligence Inc., the only obstetrics risk reduction solution for hospitals that generates immediate quantifiable clinical and financial value, announces its new name: PeriGen Inc. Currently contracted in 36 hospitals nationwide, the PeriGen OB risk reduction solution has supported more than 285,000 births with demonstrated financial benefits for clients realized within 18 months.
PeriGen’s name change reflects the company’s evolution into a technology-enabled, professional services company, building on the combined strengths of proprietary technology and advanced clinical risk reduction services provided by its physicians, nurses and midwives.
“PeriGen provides hospitals with a single source of OB knowledge and technology, which is integrated into a powerful solution that improves their clinical outcomes and financial performance from the first day of deployment,” said Donald A. Deieso, PeriGen Chairman and CEO.
PeriGen technology is a one-of-a-kind clinical decision support system that provides clinicians real-time prompts, reminders and alerts on a monitor at the patient’s bedside. The decision support system has been built on more than 6,500 best OB practices, protocols and regulatory standards providing clinicians assurance that the course of treatment follows the prescribed path of care. The PeriGen solution assists clinicians in providing the safest care for mother and baby while paying for itself, typically in less than 18 months.
From the moment PeriGen is deployed, it delivers an immediate “Value Surge” of: Measurable improvement in clinical outcomes, benchmarked against national standards and peer hospitals supporting continuous improvement initiatives; Quantifiable decrease in complications resulting in an improved case mix; Documented claims reduction and decrease in medical malpractice reserves; Quantifiable revenue increase resulting from improved documentation and charge capture; and Measurable increase in productivity due to streamlined administration and less “rework,” accurate documentation and compliance, and improvement in patient care quality parameters.
“Doctors and nurses can count on PeriGen to provide real-time information that helps protect mother and baby and ultimately reduces costs and the threat of medical malpractice,” says Daniel O’Keefe, M.D. and PeriGen Chief Medical Officer. “More than 8,600 doctors and administrators use the PeriGen solution each year for optimal delivery room outcomes that are benchmarked against national standards and peer hospitals.”
The name-change announcement coincides with the PeriGen Annual Knowledge Summit, titled this year, “Mission Possible: Reducing Risk, Improving Outcomes, Celebrating Life,” April 30- May 1 at the Fairfax Embassy Row in Washington, D.C. The two-day event focuses on bringing the best information and latest thinking on improved clinical outcomes in OB, managing risk with actionable data and optimizing the use and power of clinical decision support solutions.
