PERICALM® EFM
The Leading EFM Solution.
More than an electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) system, PeriCALM® is a full EFM solution. Enhanced by a suite of powerful clinical decision support tools, PeriCALM assists clinicians in providing the safest, most reliable care.
Monitoring contractions and fetal heart rate (FHR) response is an integral part of OB care for women in labor, particularly when that labor is induced or augmented. Clinicians must carefully monitor changes in the mother’s labor progress, the strength of her contractions, and the baby’s reaction to her contractions over long periods of time, to assure the best outcome.
Once considered more of an art than a science, labor monitoring is a complex process which is highly subjective and prone to human error. Using advanced mathematical modeling, algorithms and statistics, PeriGen has eliminated much of the subjectivity, variability and guesswork involved in labor monitoring. This uniquely powerful EFM solution supports clinicians in providing high levels of patient safety, while reducing risk and malpractice.
Pam Mork, RNC, Clinical Manager, Berlin Hospital tells how OB support systems help clinicians stay current and competent in a small hospital.
The PeriCALM electronic fetal monitoring solution (EFM) suite supports clinicians with fetal surveillance and archiving, and assists clinicians in fetal heart rate interpretation, and analysis of labor progress, as well as the identification of risk factors which may lead to shoulder dystocia.
The PeriCALM suite is patented, FDA cleared, licensed by Health Canada, and bears the CE mark for Europe. The PeriCALM suite includes the following tools:
- PeriCALM® Tracings™ is PeriGen's standard fetal surveillance and archiving solution. Tracings provides physicians, nursing staff, risk managers and hospital administrators with clinical information and risk management tools designed to improve outcomes and patient care for mothers and their infants during childbirth. - PeriCALM® Curve™ provides analysis of labor progression to help clinicians determine whether or not a caesarean section is appropriate for women demonstrating symptoms of dystocia. Learn More.
- PeriCALM® Patterns™ contains specialized algorithms and neural networks that detect and measure patterns in fetal heart rate recordings, including baseline, accelerations, decelerations, and variability. Learn More.
- PeriCALM® Shoulder Screen™ algorithms estimate the risk of shoulder dystocia with permanent injury based mainly on anthropometric maternal and fetal characteristics. Depending upon preferred thresholds, its detection rates between 44.8% and 61.1% could translate to multi-million dollar savings in large hospital systems.* Learn More.
*Because PeriCALM Shoulder Screen is not classified as a medical device, it is not subject to FDA other governmental regulation.
50% of all malpractice cases with damages over one million dollars are in Obstetrics; medical errors play a prominent role in 30-50% of cases.
